Parshat Re’eh - How You Can Give to G-d
If G-d is perfect in every way, how can we give Him anything? He already has everything. And yet the Torah in many places speaks of 'giving' to G-d. Rabbi Sinclair offers a solution to this conundrum
Sorrindo para a vida
Por que devemos sorrir ao fazer Tzedaká ?
1. Nivul Peh 2. Olam HaBa 3. Gay issues
Dear Rabbi, I greatly appreciate the provision of this service. I learned of the organization recently and had the z'chuis of making a donation to the Lag B'Omer appeal. If I may, I wish to pose 3 queries: 1. What constitutes nivul p'eh? What words are forbidden? Are the "F" word or the "s" word permissible? Does it depend on context?. May one read literature or listen to songs that contain nivul peh, such as rap music, which I am mad for? 2. Do any of the texts (Zohar, Midrash, Gemara) discuss that which happens to deceased non-Jews? When one says Kaddish, lights a yahrzeit candle=, learns Torah, fasts or donates tzedaka in the merit of decased Gentiles, does it have any impact on the neshama ( does it derive pleasure, is it elevated to a higher plane, can it be rescued from Gehenna? Will non Jews be resurrected? 3. I informed the rabbi who superintended my geirus that I am gay. I was informed that orientation is not problematic. One must refrain from prohibited actions. Are any of the following permissible to a gay Jewish man: shaking a woman's hand listening to a woman sing being secluded with a woman I would appreciate any insights or referral to sources. I thank the rav. The rav and all Hidabroot staff, and subscribers and program participants should experience always health peace and prosperity and growth in Torah and mitzvos always. Lommer deleben Moshiach. Respectfully, Bill
Returning a Lost Item
My wife went grocery shopping. She placed all of the grocery bags in the trunk of the taxi and went home. When she arrived home, our two teenage daughters unloaded all of the items from the trunk onto the sidewalk and then into our apartment. The taxi pulled away. Only later did we realize that our daughters mistakenly took an unopened package of tissues that belonged to the taxi driver - they thought their mother bought it with the other groceries. The value of the item is 12-15 shekels. My wife has NO recollection of the taxi company. What should we do with the package of tissues?
Giving Tzedakah to Non-Jews
Question: I live a city where we are blessed to have many Aniyim, poor people coming around during Tefilla to collet money. The was one Ani wo seemed a little different but I gave him Tzedakah every day anyway. One day it came to light that he isn’t Jewish he just knows that Jews give charity (MI K’Amcha Yisrael) so eh puts on a Kippah and collects. Is it permitted to give to him if nothing else but for a Kiddush Hashem?
Question: Last Purim I was on the way to home to eat Seudat Purim. After Mincha, On the way home, I saw one Gabbai Tzedakah ask a bachur if he did Matanot LaEvyonim yet. He answered no and the Gabbai said he could give him. The bachur took out two ten Agorot coins and told the Gabbai for Two Aniyim. The Gabbai took the coins and said thank you. I thought to myself can you relay fulfill the mitzvah with just two ten Agorot coins?
Amount of Tzedaka
How much Tsedaka should I give(Tsedaka is not given in person. It is given to an online organization via credit card). I read somewhere that one should give one fifth of something) - It is not clear to me at all. - Is it one fifth of my weekly salary/monthly salary? And what if my salary is different every time? And also - how often should I give tsedaka??
Hi, To make a long story short, This year bh i will be running a 10k in honor of my grandmother flora bat rina z'l in the jerusalem marathon as part of team shalva. Shalva is a non profit organization that helps children with disabilities in israel from birth to age 21. Ive been trying my very best to get donations but have not been so successful. People are able to donate on my donation page run4shalva.org/my/elianamosseri . Ive been praying to hashem that people would start to donate so that i can also help these children. Basically in my school i started a baking club last year and was the founder and president of the club meaning that i was taking care of everything. All the members were required to give me a certain amount of money in order to join the club. I ended up having money left over from the club. Am i allowed to donate the money to shalva and sponser myself since the money is going to shalva? If you can get back to me as son as possible, it would be greatly appreciated.
O poder da tsedacá
Qual é a grandeza da caridade? Como ela nos ajuda espiritualmente? O Rav Eliahu ensina como utilizar essa mitzvá da melhor for possível.
Is a Person who does a Mitzva Protected
We learn that if one does mitzvot/ shaliach mitzva one will be safe. I have a relative who was collecting tzedaka and was stabbed many times and an uncle who went to mikva and drowned. One can say his time had come etc etc yet then we can't rely on this when being shaliach mitzva or just doing mitzvot and relying on Hashem that we will be safe. Thank You
Ao fazer a bondade, devemos pensar na satisfação daquele que recebe, não no nosso próprio preenchimento e bem estar. O ato deve ser feito pelas motivações corretas para que não se torne vazio.

Sedom’s Attitude Towards Charity
The behavior of the residents of Sedom stemmed from an ideology. To promote their cruel way of life, they instituted a whole new set of rules. What was the nature of their ideology?
Gracias y Shabat Shalom . Karin Pameson
Dear Rabbi, I would like to know if when needed, would it be okay to take money out of the tzedakah (charity) box and later return the exact same amount that was removed (if not, what should we do in the event we had already done so)? Thank you and Shabbat Shalom.
