Question: I am involved in Kiruv and I was happy when one of my former students invited me for his son’s Pidyon Haben. Then while talking he mentioned he is an only child. I asked him fi he had a Pidyon and he doubted it and investigated and he didn’t’. I told him he should do one on the same day s his son. The one question I had was should he make two Shehecheyanu or is one enough?

Besamim by Havdalah
Question: I had a cold last week and was very stuffy or a few days. When it came Motzei Shabbat time to make Havdalah I wasn’t sure I could say a bracha on the Besamim. At that point my nose somewhat clear but I still could not smell half the time. I told my wife to make the bracha, but could I have made the bracha hoping that I would be able to smell it?
Question: My nonreligious cousins came to us for a meal and touched the wine I poured for myself in a cup. The wine was not cooked. I didn’t drink it but I have heard that non-religious people nowadays have a halachic status of a Tinok Shenishbah. So maybe he did not ruin my wine and I could have drunk it. What is correct?
Melaveh Malka for women
Question: My wife and I always try to be careful to eat Melaveh Malka on Motzei Shabbat. After Havdalah we sit down and wash on the leftover Challah and sing Zemirot. In the winter it is fine because we can push it off and have pizza. In the summer though it has become hard for my wife since she is full from Seudat Shlishit. Do women really have to eat Melaveh Malka?
