Gluten Free Purim
To the Rabbi, I am sensitive to Gluten and can’t eat any of the five grains except for oats. I really don’t like the taste of Oat flour bread. On Shabbat and Yom Tov, I eat a Kazayit and that is it. On Purim do I need to eat a Kzayit of oat bread or can I have Seudat Purim without any bread?
To the Rabbi: I am extremely nervous about the upcoming Purim. I have a neighbor who doesn’t like me very much and makes a little crazy. Last year Purim for Mishloach Manot he gave me something I don’t like or can’t have, on purpose. I am diabetic and can’t stand the taste of coffee. Last year he thought it was funny to give me a container of coffee, a packet of sugar and a thermos full of hot water. I was then angry the rest of the day it ruined my Seudat Purim. I am afraid he will do it again. If he does that again this year, can I just give it back to him and tell him that he can’t fulfill Mishloach Manot in this manner?
The place of Tefillin Shel Rosh
Shalom to the Rav: I am a Gabbai of the Bet Haknesset. Sometimes a Gabbai not only calls people up for Aliyot but has to be in charge of Seder in the Kehillah. One of the men who pray at our Shacharit minyan spend his whole shacharit looking at other people’s Shel Rosh and telling them to correct it s position. He always finds them to be a little bit off and he motions to them until they move it. Many have told him bluntly to leave them alone, but he feels it is mission from Shamayim to do this. They have to come to me to ask him to stop or tell him he can ‘t pray here anymore. Is he correct? Maybe if I post clear instructions of where the Tefillin Shel Rosh needs to be he will stop.
Question: To the Rav: We have a family of sixteen kids and one on the way, Baruch Hashem BLi Ayin Hara. Purim is approaching and my budget is a little tight this year.
